The Hidden Trade-Offs
in Cheaper Oxy Cleaners
Most oxy cleaners rely on sodium percarbonate as the active ingredient — the oxygen-powered ingredient that actually helps lift stains and brighten surfaces.
The real difference comes down to how much of it is in the formula, and what else is added around it.
Lower-cost oxy cleaners often reduce cost by using more inexpensive additives, such as:
- Acrylic acid homopolymer — a synthetic stabilizer
- C10-16 alketh — an ethoxylated synthetic surfactant
- Optical brighteners — added to enhance the appearance of whiteness
These ingredients can help lower manufacturing cost or change how fabrics look, but they do not replace the core oxygen-cleaning power of sodium percarbonate.
Bio Brite is built differently. We prioritize a stronger concentration of the ingredient that actually does the work, paired with a coconut-derived surfactant instead of unnecessary fillers and brighteners.
